Okay the answer to the sub-riddle is:
Cole's Law is just a play on Coleslaw, you know that salad-type thing covered in mayonnaise.

"The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not "Eureka!" but "That's funny..."."

Actually, having a so called "smart" person is actually not that great of a choice for assistant... For all you know, this "smart" or at least thought as "smart" would be too arrogant and ignorant to be safely control in any way... which is probably the case here.
Character of the person is often more important than just about everything else.
Job hiring tip (I guess). Skill and knowledge can be trained.

I had a science teacher a couple years ago, who taught us never to confuse hydrogen and helium. Suffice it to say it involved a lot of explosions.
If I'm lucky (and not too lazy...) I'll be able to understand that by 20. I've got plenty of time to read up on wikipedia (jk, but it's probably on there).
I mean, science is probably the coolest thing ever. Better than Guild Wars even.

Nothing is better than Guildwars. Get out!
Seriously, I arrived on this thread while searching for Dye color combos, and just spent half an hour of my life reading it, and I can honestly say that is half an hour well spent.
